Loosen enough to be able to slide extension wire in.Step #3There are TWO metal clasp that hold the original wire in place on bottom of switch. One can be slightly bend upward to remove wire. The other just needs a small Phillips Screwdriver, remove the screw and clasp. Set clasp and screw aside.Step #4Insert the Green, Black, Red and Yellow wires into the slots you marked on the switch in step one. Insert one at a time, tighten and move to next wire. The Extension Wire comes pre-stripped and each wire has had the strands twisted, but you may have to give each wire a slight Clockwise Twist of the strands if handling causes the twists to loosen. Wires should insert easily under the copper-colored plate. If the wire will not go in, simply loosen the screw a bit more. Tighten all screws. They do not need to be tightened hard, just enough to hold the wires in place.Step #5Place the Extension Wire into the 1st Clasp on Switch base, and push the clasp down just enough to hold wire. Align the 2nd Clasp and screw and tighten with light pressure. NOTE: No Screws need to be tightened hard for installing the Switch Extension Wire.Step #6Cut the stripped (the copper) ends off the original switch wires. This is Optional – But makes a cleaner connection. Wire Cutters or even Just Scissors work. Step #7Take the end of the Extension Wire that will have the individual wires exposed (as shipped), but Not Stripped and the Original Wire that connects to the remote. The Extension Wire nor the Original Wire connected to the Remote need to be stripped. One at a time place the matching color wires from the Extension Wire and the Original Switch Wire into the Quick Connector. Green to Green, Yellow to Yellow, Red to Red, etc. Then Push the wire ends into the Quick Connectors as far as they will go (they slide in easy, do not jam them in). Once the matching wires are BOTH in the Quick Connector, PUSH the Button on the Quick Connectors with your thumb, this will hold the wires in place. In most cases people can apply enough pressure to make the Quick Connect Connections with their thumb, but you have to push each button HARD. We Strongly Suggest Always Using Plyers (of any kind) to make certain the connections within the Quick Connectors are as solid as possible: Simply apply light/medium pressure to each Quick Connect Button, clamping both wires in each Quick Connector. This will guarantee the wires are locked in place. And not require hard pressure when using just your thumb.Tips and Notes:(1) Each order comes with ONE (1) extra Quick Connector in the rare event your first attempt to connect the wires does not go well. This is the easiest way we know of to extend your Fastrack Switch Remote Wires, but we understand the 1st time using this method may require the extra connector; most people do not need it. You can usually save the extra Quick Connector for a connection elsewhere.(2) The Extension Wire is 22/6. 22 Gauge, (6) Six Wires. For this Basic Install Method where you are using Track Power to power your switch/remote (as Factory Shipped), you will NOT NEED the Blue to White Wires. You Will Only Need Four Wires. However, we Tape Them on Each End in the event you ever want to change from using Track Power to Running Power Directly to the Switch (using the Blue and White Wire). Most people do not run Independent Power to their Fastrack Switches, but it is an option with our Switch Extension Wire Packages.
